1. Jeanroy prints CIKR’s Quant l’aura doussa.

5. d’amor is Jeanroy’s correction; for d’amor the scribe has followed the case system consistently in lines 7, 26, 34, 46, and 58.

10. Anar followed by the present infinitive is idiomatic and synonymous with the present indicative.

21. siegles: Following Jeanroy and all other MSS, we have emended L’s siegle.

23. q’anquar la·m des: Jeanroy prints a’s qu’ancar l’ades.

26. dormen e veillan: Jeanroy prints durmen o velhan.

28. Also possibly “ask for it,” i.e. her love.

32. mal non sen: Jeanroy prints mal no·m sent.

33. For this use of devis see Jaufre Rudel, 6.27.

38. See note 10.

41. me venrra·l bes: Jeanroy prints me venra bes.

42. Also possibly, “soon, if it comes to please her.”

44. en coman: Jeanroy prints CDIKR’s a coman.

49. soi e jaucis: Jeanroy prints a’s m’en esjauzis.

50. Jeanroy emends La’s e la blan to o la blan, since doptei and blan are alternatives and require the disjunctive “or.”

55¬-58. We follow Jeanroy in reversing C’s order of tornadas here, because stanza 11 comes as a non-sequitur after stanza 9, whereas stanza 10 follows stanza 9 naturally, and because the tornadas of Song 8 (which we have reversed for different reasons) suggest that the formula Cercalmont ditz should appear in the lines which end the poem.

55. qe plaja: Jeanroy prints a’s que plass’.

56. retener: Jeanroy adopts CDIKR’s reading in place of L’ s weak enriquer, the usual form of which is enrequir as in a, which violates the rhyme.

58. Jeanroy lists C’s reading as que d’amor, but this MS reads qui d’amor, which Jeanroy prints.
