I. Now must I reveal the great happiness and joy which guide and urge me on; whatever sorrow and care I may have, I go forward contentedly fearing naught from Love. For so much have I of my desire and often I cannot hear or feel.
II. Love is wont to be strangely intractable and hostile and ever evilly disposed; now is it complacent towards me above all other lovers and, with little entreaty, has rendered me courteous aid. For so much have I of my desire that all the year is as spring to me and I dwell among flowers.
III. I love such a mistress, by my faith, that I do not think there exists a fairer between here and Friesland. So firm is the love, to which I abandon myself, that everything I hear or see is to my liking. For I have so much of my desire that, by my faith, I do not envy any lover.
IV. My perfect joy, pure and true, goes tranquilly forward and grows greater every day. So noble and pure is the love which nourishes me that it truly comforts me and takes from me all cares. Never had I so much of my desire and never have I been so gay for seven years or more.
V. Let him, who wishes to attain true worth, set his mind on love; never must he depart therefrom on account of any misfortune he may feel. But let him serve and wait for he will have fair reward such as he desires provided he does not despair. For I have so much of my desire and of my pleasure that I consider myself as rich as the king.
VI. Take thy way, O song, towards the men of Auvergne and tell them on my behalf that they see no more of me because the great courtesy and the pure beauty and the happiness of my mistress have captivated me here and hold me in thrall. For I have so much of my desire that in joy and peace do I love and am loved in return.
VII. Concerning my song, I desire straightway that it should be finished and let him, to whom it is pleasing, sing it.
