Sir Blacatz to Sir Peirol
Peirol, since you have come to visit us, go quickly (and rich will be your reward) towards the lady who is fair and worthy, gracious and courteous and true, yonder in Trez; and let her bestow on you one of her gifts for your pleasure and you will be enriched by the least of them. I would fain give or sell her kinship with me if I could but lie beside her fair body.

Peirol responded thus:
Since she is worthy and I likewise, such a lady would be welcome to me, because I am of noble intent and disposed to love, true and loyal towards a lady. If anyone sold me kinship with her, so would I forthwith take it; for then would I have a law on my side [i.e. should have close relations with her] against which she could have no defence, and then would I have the reward of the long wait I endured for one who never wished to grant me intimacy with her.
